About Bakoni Surgicals

Bakoni Surgicals is a subsidiary of Bakoni Medical Suppliers, a medical equipment business which started its operations in 2012. Bakoni Surgicals (Pty) Ltd took over the manufacturing business of D.Med Healthcare (Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg in 2018.

The core business includes the assembly, packaging and sterilisation of Surgical Medical kits. The sterile packs include procedure packs used in theatre, wound care, medical and surgical wards.

Our customer range includes private and public hospitals, Individual doctors, Veterinary clinics and renal dialysis centres.

Our manufacturing facility is approved by SAPHRA (Medicines control council).

We manufacture a wide range of sterile procedure packs from wound care, maternity packs, circumcision packs, theatre packs, dental packs, renal dialysis packs, veterinary packs, etc. we can customise packs according to specific customer requirements. Previously held positions as Consultant- Responsible for business regulatory compliance and strategy, Regulatory Affairs Director and Responsible Pharmacist, Technical Director and Responsible Pharmacist.

Also, managed the manufacturing facility in Spartan which included engineering, health and safety, production and packaging departments. New equipment assessment and purchasing. Health and safety. Production costs and variances. Good manufacturing practice. Liaison with regulatory authorities within and outside South Africa.

Managing Director responsible for business development, Business strategy and managing sales representative, Key stakeholder management such as government departments, private hospitals, medical schemes and export customers.

Previously worked for Pfizer as Public Affairs & Patient Access Director responsible for developing policies on pricing, intellectual property, and access to affordable medicines in South Africa, and then lobbying relevant stakeholders within government.

Rene Swart

Factory Manager responsible for day-to-day operations of Clean room overseeing 4 supervisors and 18 personnel.

Key member of team in obtaining ISO13485 certification, designs Standard Operating Procedure and staff training.

Implemented Quality improvement program including spot audits, root-cause analysis, and implementation of remedial actions.

Also, Handle customer complaints including physically visiting customers and collaborating with production to identify and solve problems.
